I happen to know this Muslim very well, and, despite what McCain's campaign asserts, I can assure them that she's not out to kill anyone. As a matter of fact, they might be surprised to learn that she's actually quite peaceful. The most violent I ever see her become is when she attempts Cesar Milan's "don not try this at home" dog tricks. And, this will probably rock McCain and his bigot junta to their core, but she's married to an Israeli, loves Israel and is probably more personally affected by Islamic extremists than those hucksters will ever be. So it's ironic that McCain and his ilk, who love to joke about murdering people like her (e.g. "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" or poison Iranians), are now claiming that gentle people like my wife are out to get them.
According to the Miami Herald,
One of John McCain's fellow POW's in Vietnam defended the war in Iraq, saying, "The Muslims have said either we kneel or they're going to kill us.''In a phone call with reporters arranged by Republican Party of Florida, Colonel Bud Day added: "I don't intend to kneel and I don't advocate to anybody that we kneel, and John doesn't advocate to anybody that we kneel.''
Now, I'm not a psychologist, but I did take a few classes in college, and it smells to me like McCain's boy is projecting. Based on this, McCain's history of macabre jokes, and our experiences with rednecks like Bud Day in Florida, if anyone one should be afraid, my wife should fear those people.
So, anyway, my wife will be flummoxed when she learns that a McCain surrogate feels this way about her, and an apology from the presumptive Republican nominee would go a long way to prevent losing any chance for her vote. Given this, Greg Sargent asks a timely question.
According to him,
I asked the campaign whether they agreed with the assertion. Here's what McCain spokesperson Michael Goldfarb sent me:
"The threat we face is from radical Islamic extremism."
That's okay, John. I guess we both know she would've never voted for you anyway.
